Luckier
Calypso is the luckiest cat in town!—that is, until she meets Philosopher Jones, who claims he's even luckier...
Help our black cats grant good luck to the eight people of Greentown, who are currently sheltering in place.
GAME JAM
This prototype was made for Weekly Game Jam #141 based on the theme, "Good Luck."
In addition, this is a participant in Themes+, including the bonus theme, "Darkness," as well as the design challenge, "Combine two 'opposite' genres." I took their suggestion of "a real-time turn-based game" seriously by making a time-based JRPG with a turn-based battle system.

Um since this COVID stuff is going on this really reminds me of my younger sister she loves cats and especially black cats. They give her good luck. And it makes me feel safe.
This makes me happy! We want to update all our COVID-related games in May, including this one. Is there something you want us to add?
Can you please make a choice of different cats like a tabby or maybe later on in the game you find a plant cat for your party
Love those ideas! We'll include them this month! :^)
Ok Thank you!]
Great concept, you made it in a week so it's fullt understandable, that there are repeating mechanics. 4/5 stars, the idea is great in their simplistic. Wish you a luck in game dev industry! :D
Thank you for the kind words! :)
I made a short playthrough video of it! We're all in quarantine and my cat wanted me to! (I blame her)
Here's the playthrough-- tadahhhh -- and I do have some suggestions at the end! But overall it was a super cute game and I enjoyed playing it!
I actually didn't realize it was a prototype. It's pretty dang well done for such an early version!
I appreciate your kind words!—and I loved the video so much! Definitely updating the game to put a switch in the community garden. :3
Aw youre too sweet thank you!!!
Awesome game!
Thank you! :D
Nice work! I like the overall look and feel of the game. Good ole random encounters, wouldn't be a JRPG without 'em!
If I had one criticism, it would be that a lot of the houses were very dark inside. I guess that was part of the other theme, but maybe there's a way to keep that atmosphere and make it a little easier to recognize what you are looking at?
All and all, great submission!
I was thinking it needed more lights inside the houses. It's like the town is in a brownout inside the houses. I appreciate the feedback! I'll add that in the update!
I love the atmosphere and dialogue -- very cute! The fights seem a bit frequent, but maybe that's what you were going for. Nice game!
I could definitely lower the encounter rate if it's a bit much. I think part of the redundancy also comes from us only having one enemy. x_x I appreciate the feedback!
