A triad of trijams!
Just finished my third trijam with seven minutes to spare! :D
The other two trijams fey.earth's participated in so far:
- The Trijam: The Ultimate Mega Extreme edition with Cattack: An Absolute Cattastrophe (this was our first game jam...!—ever!)
- Rocknight Studio's Trijam #59: The 3-hour game jam with Long Ago, A Star Exploded
My husband also entered the Exotic Weapons Pack to Asset Jam #6. Since I'm normally the person doing game jam cartwheels on weekends—while occasionally shouting, "Hey, I need a sprite in two hours!"—he was revved to be the frontwheel jammer for a change.
I think I'm in love with the pressure of 3-hour game jams. I'm also a fan of the 48-hour weekend-only challenges, although they've resulted in a couple of 14-hour days. The 3-hour jams feel healthier in that regard...they're teaching me how to pace myself. While not every autistic person hyperfocuses on coomputer-based tasks...I am definitely one of the autistic people that can enter a wormhole in my PC for 14 hours with two 30-minute meal breaks and a 5 minute shower. I used to do it all the time in the early years of World of Warcraft.
In the case of jamming up this mini-game:
I barely fit development into the 3-hour goal, and that's if you don't include the 20 minutes of sloppy play-testing, plus the hour I was dancing in my office to music from Envato Elements, looking for the two tracks. (The dancing includes bouncing a cat toy for Phoebe.)
I'm certain text bugs are buried in the first iteration, since they're there every time I write this fast; but I don't think anything will crash. Then there's the time it takes to upload and write the game copy. And write this dev log. It's good practice. I dig it!
Graphics for this game were mostly taken from RPG Maker MV's default package (RTP). Music from LoopsLab. Credits for plug-ins found in-game. Complete the trading route to see the credits roll, or simply ask the bartender at the right time. And thanks for playing!
